The injection molding is a technique for manufacturing mechanical components very different. The versatility of this method allows plastic parts to be manufactured quickly, with high production levels and low costs. Here, we look at the latest technologies in plastic injection
Let’s get started!
Gas assisted injection molding
In this type of molding, the usual injection of molten plastic is assisted by the introduction of pressurized gas into the mold, normally nitrogen is introduced to carry out this process. The gas produces a bubble that pushes the plastic towards the ends of the mold; thus, as the bubble expands, the different sections are covered. There are several variations of molding that are used in the plastics industry and which differ according to the position in which the gas is injected into the polymer melt.
More specifically, the gas can be injected through the machine nozzle or directly into the mold cavity under constant pressure or volume. Some of these methods are protected by access patents; for this reason, to use it, the corresponding use license agreement must be obtained.
Foam injection mold
This technique offers an efficient and economical way to obtain high strength and rigidity in structural parts. In addition to this advantage, structural foam pieces have a better thermal insulation system, a greater chemical resistance and improved electrical and acoustic characteristics.
These parts have a foam core between two layers, obtaining this core is obtained by dissolving an inert gas in the resin and allowing it to expand by injecting the plastic-gas solution into the mold cavity. Where can we find parts made with foam injection? This process is used in automobile panels as an alternative to reduce the weight of the parts.
Thin-walled injection molded
The main technological innovation here is related to the final results they generate: a very thin-walled section.
As a general rule, component parts are manufactured in which their thicknesses can be less than half a millimeter , in this case we would be facing a thin-walled one.
The injection multicomponent
Also known as over-injection since in this process a hard or soft polymer is over-injected on top of a base material (substrate), generally a plastic or metallic component.
In short, we can define this technology as the injection of more than one component or material in the same mold and process, allowing the combination of two, three or more materials of different colors, textures and shapes.
Panoramic windows, door panels, tail lights, seat belt tensioners are just a small sample of the auto parts that today are produced by injection of polymeric materials in the automotive industry.
Injection of plastics in automotive
And it is that the automotive industry is among one of the main users of these technologies, especially multi-component injection, creating high-quality parts in appearance and functionality such as panels, lights and rear-view mirrors.
Plastic injection molding service price varies according to manufacturing industries. But there is always an average price for the varying models. However, it is important to ensure that you liaise with a reputable firm to get the best price for your business.
We understand the importance of injection technologies for the automotive sector that is why we have extensive experience in knowledge about the multi-component injection process, developing different products applied with superinjection technology.
The technologies that have been incorporated into this process provide important advantages: high production levels and low costs, molding of parts with complicated geometries and much more customized parts, both in color and transparency. Tell us, what piece do you need!
